Mental Health and Wellbeing Project (MHW)
House of Volunteers, from its decade long experience of working with and for university students in Bangladesh has built a strong sense of responsibility of taking an attempt to at least reduce, if not eliminate, the darkness of psychological pain of the youth. With this view, the organization has initiated a mental health program for University
students, primarily focused on Dhaka University (DU), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).
The program started with awareness session for volunteers of HOV about basic concepts and practices of applied psychology and then conducted a pilot research (survey) on the psychological health of one participating university (Dhaka University). By the end of the project, we will have run an elaborate mental health survey and outreach program for the students of all target universities based on the research report, and will try to facilitate psychological help in the form of suitable services through the program.
HOV’s priority is to empower the young volunteers of the university chapters by training them up through skill development programs and engaging them in activities where they can practice and improve their skills. As a part of the mental health program, too, our volunteers will receive sufficient training to fully understand the depth of the issue the project is addressing, and to get involved in it practically.
Latest: Survey conducted among students of Dhaka University in 10th October, 2018. Going to publish survey analysis and report by Oct, 2019.
