House of Volunteers, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET)
House of Volunteers BUET (HOVBUET) was founded at the beginning of the formation of House of volunteer Bangladesh (HOVBD). Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) alumni Muhammad Ahsanullah Khan and Md. Abu Hasan had taken the initiative to start the first HOV student chapter of Bangladesh at BUET in 2007. Later on, HOVBUET got the official recognition of the director of Student Welfare, BUET in 2010. Over the last decade, HOVBUET has played a crucial role in implementing different projects and thus establishing
its position as one of the most important chapters of the organization.
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is home to the most brilliant minds of the country. HOVBUET intends to encourage such students to participate in voluntary works and utilize their potentials for the welfare of the country. They also keep regular contact with the faculties who often assist with their relevant expertise. HOVBUET is led by its Executive Committee, also a faculty member being as Advisor of the chapter moderate and facilitate its activities at BUET.
HOVBUET had significant contribution in developing and implanting the maiden project of HOV named “Open Source Computer Education Program (OSCEP)” in Comilla. Since then, they have participated continuously in all projects with a valuable contribution. Initiation and pilot implementation of “Earthquake Awareness Program (EAP)” was done by HOVBUET in 2012. From 2015, HOV BUET has been hosting the Bangladesh Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWPBD) competition at BUET. The program has received critical acclamation. The chapter has also been lauded for their contribution to develop other student chapters of HOV in Bangladesh.
