4th Mentoring session of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize Bangladesh 2023
The Sweden International Water Institute (SIWI) in Sweden hosts the Stockholm Junior Water Prize, which is an international search for young water scientists to represent Bangladesh in, known as the Stockholm Junior Water Prize Bangladesh (SJWPBD). It seeks to enlist young people in solving water and environmental issues. On 29th April, 2023, the fourth mentoring session was held at the Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) ITN Center with the 8 teams that were finally selected for the national level of the competition. The purpose of the session was to provide the respective teams with the necessary guidance. Afia Jahin Nita Hossain, Research Associate of BUET-ITN was present as the mentor.
In the session, the mentor asked the participants to be careful about referencing their research paper and also advised some participants to do lab tests. The team ‘BreatheAqua’ changed its project title on the advice of the mentor.
At the end of the session, Team Hydrosafe said that the mentoring session was very effective for them. They got ideas on how to improve projects and research papers from the mentor as well.
It is to be noted that the participants submitted their final project on April 12, 2023. In the 5th mentoring session of the competition on 6th May, 2023, the top 8 qualified teams will present their projects along with their samples. Later on May 19, 2023, the national level of the competition will be held.
